NEW: Community Diagnostic Centre - Spirometry & FeNo testing clinics
The recently opened community diagnostic centre, which is running from the East Riding Community Hospital in Beverley, is a new service delivered by Yorkshire Health Partners Ltd working in partnership with Hullcare. Available for all patients registered at a GP practice in the East Riding of Yorkshire and Hull, the clinic offers spirometry and fractional exhaled nitric oxide (FeNo) testing which enables the diagnosis of respiratory conditions such as asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
Clinics run on Monday, Wednesday and Friday afternoons and GP practices can book patients directly into these appointments. The clinicians carry out both a spirometry and FeNo test during the appointment and the results are communicated back to the patients registered GP practice so a treatment plan can be put in place where needed.
What is Spirometry testing?
This test is a basic lung function test which can help to diagnose various lung conditions, such as asthma or COPD. It can also be used to monitor the severity of other lung conditions and their response to treatment.
What is FeNo Testing?
This is a test which measures the levels of nitric oxide in your breath and is used to diagnose asthma. A high level of nitric oxide when you breath out can be a sign you have inflamed airways and could mean you have asthma. This test is simple and easy to do. It is a useful test which can help build a better understanding of asthma and how to manage it.
This 6-month pilot aims to improve the lives of people locally by diagnosing health conditions earlier, faster and more accurately with a coordinated set of diagnostic tests in the community.
